Continuing with my travels through Argentina, I was able to head toward the North of the

country to both Salta and Jujuy. I was very excited to visit these 2 provinces for a couple of reasons. One, was that these are the some of the best places in Argentina where you can really see and feel the indigenous characteristics, which was a pleasant surprise when compared to the huge city of Buenos Aires. Another reason was that Salta and Jujuy have quite a few natural wonders. To name a few there's cerros de siete colores (7 colored mountain), salinas grandes (the salt flats), llamas (not a natural wonder but still very cool, nonetheless), and other interesting things. The last reason that I was excited to go to make this trip was because of the llamas. Call me weird but I really wanted a selfie with a llama and this trip seemed like the best time to accomplish said goal.
I spent roughly 5 days in Salta and absolutely loved it. My trip went a little some thing like this:
Thursday: Went to the airport and took a 2 hour flight from Bs. As. to Salta. Arrived in Salta late that night and proceeded to go to one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to with my travel buddies. After devouring the food I went back to my hostel to get ready for the next days adventure.
Friday: Explored the city and did touristy stuff all day. Also found and booked some really cool tours and afterward went back to my hostel where I cooked dinner with my travel companions. After dinner someone broke out the music which turned into a mini karaoke sess that went until 1 in the morning.
Saturday: Went on a 12 hour bus tour and got to see mountains, lots and lots of beautiful mountains, las salinas grandes (salt flats) and the little towns of Salta. Las salinas grandes were amazing and something that I recommend everyone go see because it's hard to say just how awesome they were. I could say that when you're right in the middle of the salt flats that it's white and salt as far as the eye can see but that doesn't do justice to just how amazing it all was. And in the words of one of my new friends, there was a lot of salt. I also tried llama for the first time, not something I'd make a habit but it was interesting nonetheless.
Sunday: I went out with my travel group to find a place to go skydiving but because of some issues that popped up wasn't able to do it and instead ending up riding in a cable car and enjoying the day with some pretty cool people. So all in all just a chill day. I didn't know just how bad going up and down mountains would be so I am 99% sure that I was suffering from altitude sickness, this was a well needed rest day.
Monday: Went on another 12 hour tour and headed toward Jujuy. I went to Pumamarca (city in Jujuy) and was able to go to the Pumamarca feria (market) as well. It was really interesting to see a lot of handmade items that had been made by the citizens. This day I was also able to see los cerros de siete colores (7 colored mountain) and they were beautiful. No matter how many pictures I took I wasn't able to capture just how breathtaking it was. This is definitely a must see. I also went to Humahuaca (another city in Jujuy). Here I was able to see a lot of indigenous towns, adobe churches, and a lot more.
Tuesday: Flew out of Salta early in the morning and proceeded to head to my university for class because even though I'm in a foreign country and feel like I should be on vacation, I am still indeed a student who must attend their classes.
From the full day tours of the city to the late night impromptu karaoke sessions in the hostel with mis compañeros, I can confidently say that this trip will be one I remember for years to come.
As always scroll down for more pictures!
