I went to Uruguay!

To be completely honest I didn't (and still don't) know much about Uruguay but it's another country with its own history and characteristics so it was definitely worth traveling to. One boat ride from Buenos Aires across the Río de la Plata later and I was in Uruguay.

With my study abroad program I went to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, one of the oldest towns in Uruguay. Founded by the Portuguese in 1680 and had a history of colonization off and on by the Spaniards.

Enough though with the history lesson. I was able to make a day trip to this city and was pleasantly surprised by how cute and historic it was. With its cobble stone streets and traditional architecture it was easy to see both the Spanish and Portuguese influences that this city has. For a place to really make an impact on me I like for the history to be obvious and somewhat thrown in my face. You don't have to look too hard to see just how the colonization of an outside force had made an impact because it was always right there in front of you. This to me is what made Colonia so interesting. Plus it looked like a place that was great for a photoshoot, so of course I took some photos of my own of my travel buddies and what I got was straight gold.
